Did You Hear The One About the 64 Songwriters?
Making and Breaking Records
on GAC's
"Country Music Across America"
(NASHVILLE, TENN)
November 16, 2006...In what is surely the largest songwriting session on record, "Country Music Across America" host Storme Warren has teamed with mega hit songwriter Monty "Tonight I Wanna Cry" Powell with the hopes of creating a new original country song. One word at a time. With 64 co-writers. The two recruited stars on the CMA Awards show red carpet and asked each to contribute a random lyrical thought either in one word or one sentence.
Less than 24-hours after the red carpet experiment, Powell was in a Nashville studio putting the song together. "It was like freakin' herding cats," Powell says of the challenge. Get a behind the scenes look at the making of a world record on this week's "Country Music Across America," Thursday, November 16, 9:00 pm (ET) on GAC. The all-star handwritten lyric book will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the T.J. Martell Foundation.
Hopefully Warren sought the advice of professionals, stars like Alabama's Randy Owen, who stopped by to chat about the group's new album of inspirational music or Reba McEntire who talks about her long term involvement with the Habitat for Humanity organization as well as her recent induction into the new Music City Walk of Fame.
GAC's "Songs of the Year" special doesn't air until January, but "CMAA" gives you the inside track with interviews from the red carpet with Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Jo Dee Messina, Billy Currington and others.
And a man who knows a thing or two about songwriting, rock/R & B icon Steve Cropper ("Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay"), is honored by more than two dozen country and rock artists who got together to pay tribute to his 50th year of making music.
Also on this week's episode: part two of a very personal three part series on George Jones. The Possum talks regret, recovery and rebounds noting, "The good stuff is easy, it's bad stuff that's hard. You wish you'd never been that kind of person."
"Country Music Across America" on GAC: the only entertainment news show on television dedicated solely to covering the world of country music.
