FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tall, Grande, Venti: Trace Adkins, Billy Gilman, Julie Roberts
All News, No Foam on GAC's "Country Music Across America"
NASHVILLE, TENN (August 22, 2006)...There's something for every country music appetite on this week's "Country Music Across America," Thursday, August 24, 9:00 pm (ET), on Great American Country.
Long, tall Trace Adkins who is celebrating his 10th year as a recording artist with the release of his 7th LP, Dangerous Man, tells host Storme Warren that he's just happy to be here. Having been shot, cut, run over and just plain beaten up throughout his life, Adkins ain't lyin' when he admits, "Just to be here is pretty cool." He talks about his 4 years of sobriety as well as the widespread appeal of his tush-shaking anthem, "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," which has turned on new fans like Queen Latifah and rap artist Juvenile.
Lovely Julie Roberts no doubt packed bug spray and moist towelettes when she and Warren headed to upstate New York to entertain the John Misiak family, winners of GAC's Backyard BBQ Sweepstakes. The Misiaks and their friends were treated to a live performance from the Men and Mascara singer and a fully catered dinner in their very own backyard.
How can it be that Billy Gilman - the singing phenom who sold millions and earned a Grammy nod at the age of 11 - is now a young man of 18? The former child prodigy opens up about the trials of enduring so much at such a young age as well as his doctor-ordered 'forced' retirement at age 14. "Don't let your 11-year-old get into the music business because crap happens!" he says when asked for advice.
Texan Pat Green has a few years before his two young kids are 11 and acknowledges that fatherhood has tamed him. "You pop out two puppies and you know what? They don't care how much you drank the night before!" he tells Warren. "They're up at 7 AM and if you're not careful, they're in the kitchen, rummaging through the knife drawer." Green also talks about his other "baby," his new album,
Cannonball.
Music fans will also get a sneak peek into Keith Urban's recording studio, a look at Ray Price's new Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit and the excited reaction from Tim McGraw's and Faith Hill's one millionth ticket holder.
Whether you like your country music with caffeine or without, this week's episode of "Country Music Across America" has got just what you ordered.
