From High in the Rockies to Just Down The Street:
GAC's "Country Music Across America" Has Got You Covered
Put stars like Kenny Loggins, Little Big Town and Richard Marx together at a Rocky Mountain ski resort, turn them loose on the slopes by day and on various stages around town by night and you've got the annual
Country in the Rockies
fundraiser. The music and ski event raises funds for two Nashville cancer research facilities under the
T.J. Martell Foundation umbrella. With no arm twisting at all, host Storme Warren found time in his busy schedule to join artists and songwriters in Steamboat Springs for the 13th annual event and you can catch him in action this Thursday, February 8, 9:00 PM (ET) on GAC.
Among
the top items auctioned at
the event was the original
handwritten and signed lyric
book for "The
Cure,"
the song that was
collaborated on by many of
country music's top stars on
the red carpet of the CMA
Awards this past November.
According to BMI, it is the
largest published
songwriting collaboration in
history. The song which
went for $20,000 was
put to music by
award-winning writer
Monty
Powell.
Crystal Gayle came close to
having to hop for a new bus after a recent bus-nabbing.
Her 45-foot Prevost was stolen in Nashville by escaped felon Christopher
Gay but the bus and Gay were eventually found in Florida. "I'm just glad no one was hurt," Gayle says of the incident. |

High Speed Bachelor
While we don't know if he can carry a tune, tire magnate, wine maker and TV bachelor
Andrew Firestone showed his need for speed as he took Storme on a tour of his family's Bridgestone Winter Driving School near Steamboat Springs. "Turn off the engine and get out of the car" was Firestone's only advice to Storme before the two engaged in a some slippery road competition.

Take A Sneak Peak
with
Miranda Lambert

Road conditions were much better back in Nashville where
Miranda Lambert
took a "CMAA" crew on a tour of her new customized tour bus. After years of leasing buses and sharing bathrooms with upwards of 12 band and crew members, Lambert was ready for her very own rolling apartment. Of the design work done by Texas-based Junk Gypsies, Lambert says, "It's like they went inside my brain." |
